Born and raised in Edmonton, James has lived in the city his entire life, including 25 years in Ward 8.  Having lived in several of Ward 8’s neighbourhoods, he and his wife, Sally Ferrero, have most recently left their home of 20 years in Bonnie Doon to build their dream home in Strathearn.  Life-long urbanites deeply interested in creating a gracious and amiable metropolitan life, the two had a net zero house constructed, complete with cutting-edge design and technology.  The house demonstrates James’ interest in and commitment to modern solutions to the perennial issues faced by individual homeowners and entire communities. Their unique home has allowed James and Sally to provide a wonderful abode for an extended family: their two active teenage children, and a separate mother-in-law suite.

Proud of his Edmonton roots and his neighbourhood, James has always been an active member in his community, having served on the Bonnie Doon Community League executive for over a decade.  He has recently transferred his time and commitment to Strathearn, where he spearheaded the decorative streetlight initiative as part of the Neighbourhood Renewal program currently underway.  An engaged parent, he has also been a coach for community soccer and hockey, as well as a team manager and fundraising chair for his children’s teams.
